Schedule of Reductions

Schedule of Reductions

A new federal student loan proration requirement, known as the Schedule of Reductions (SOR), requires schools to adjust annual Federal Direct loan eligibility for students enrolled less than full-time, including continuing borrowers under legacy loan provisions. A student's enrollment status when a loan is disbursed determines the amount of annual loan eligibility. For example, a student enrolled at 75% of full-time status will generally be eligible for 75% of their annual federal loan amount. Changes in enrollment after a loan has been disbursed, especially reductions in units, may require a recalculation of eligibility and could affect loan funding for the remainder of the academic year.
