The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) introduced new federal financial aid regulations that may impact how much student loan funding you can receive. Under these changes, all part-time students—whether new or legacy borrowers—will have their federal loan eligibility prorated based on their enrollment level. This means students enrolled less than full-time will only qualify for a portion of the standard annual loan limit. Students have to be enrolled in at least half-time status to qualify for federal loans.
Note: the “Half-Time Units Per Semester” indicates the minimum number of units in which a student must be enrolled to receive federal financial aid. The half-time unit amount listed is not included in the “Annual Financial Aid Units” as summer is not a required term for undergraduate students.
Keep in mind: The enrollment status reported by the university does not necessarily correspond to the enrollment level required for financial aid eligibility. Students should review financial aid enrollment requirements separately.
