Financial Aid Next Steps

Despite ongoing delays with the FAFSA, LMU is committed to providing admitted students with an estimate of their potential need based financial aid as part of the financial aid package.

Learn About This Year's Process

The following are frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the LMU Financial Aid Application.

Please use the navigation buttons below to skip to questions specific to first-year or transfer students.

  • The LMU Institutional Need Based Financial Aid Application - also known as LMU's Financial Aid Application - will help LMU's Financial Aid office determine admitted students' estimated need based aid for the 2024-2025 academic year.

LMU created this application following delays in the release of the 2024-2025 FAFSA. Since it is still unclear when FAFSA information will be sent to institutions, submission of the LMU Financial Aid Application allows LMU to provide admitted students with a timely estimate of all grants and scholarships ahead of their commitment deadline.

  • We encourage all students to complete LMU's Financial Aid Application as soon as possible. Completion of this application allows LMU to determine the amount of need based aid students may qualify for.

If a student does not require need based grants or scholarships, then no additional application is necessary. All students, regardless of submission of the LMU Financial Aid Application, will be considered for merit scholarships.

  • Yes. LMU's Financial Aid Application provides a timely estimate of each admitted student's financial aid package so that they can make their decision ahead of the commitment deadline. Submission of the 2024-2025 FAFSA is required to confirm and take advantage of the aid admitted students are eligible to receive.
  • LMU grants and scholarships will be honored if a student's LMU Financial Aid Application is completed accurately and the information provided on the application matches their FAFSA information.

  • May 1 is an important deadline to ensure a smooth and successful transition to LMU in the fall. Families with extenuating circumstances should contact Radia Alouache, Senior Director for Undergraduate Admission, at Radia.Alouache@lmu.edu with their request.

Transfer Students

  • Our team will continue to work with you and do what we can to assist you in your transition to LMU. However, you should be aware that housing may not be available to you if you deposit after the housing application deadline of May 17.

If you anticipate needing on-campus housing, we encourage you to make your decision and submit both your tuition and housing deposits ahead of the May 17 housing deadline.

  • If you cannot meet your commitment deadline and wish to request an extension, please contact Gicel Martell de Zardeneta, Director of Transfer Admission and Enrollment Services, at Gicel.Martelldezardeneta@lmu.edu regarding next steps.
