If you are a 2025 or 2026 high school graduate, you may be eligible for a high school entitlement award in 2025-2026 (for Spring 2026 admitted students) or 2026-2027, if you:
- Completed the 2025-2026 FAFSA or California Dream Act Application by March 3, 2025
- Complete the 2026-2027 FAFSA or California Dream Act Application by the state of California's March 2, 2026, deadline
- Filed a certified GPA with the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) by March 3, 2025
- File a certified GPA with CSAC by March 2, 2026
Note: All California public and charter high schools are required to electronically upload GPAs for currently enrolled seniors who do not opt out. Check if your high school counselor requires any action to send your GPA. If you attended a private school, contact your high school counselor to see if they will send your GPA, as they are not mandated to do so. CAL GRANT TRANSFER ENTITLEMENT AWARD
This grant is for students who plan to transfer directly from a California Community College to a 4-Year University that offers a bachelor's degree in the academic year that they are applying for the award. The deadline for the 2025-2026 academic year (which includes Spring 2026) was April 2, 2025. The deadline for the 2026-2027 academic year is March 2, 2026. Applicants must submit a FAFSA or California DREAM Act Application and have a minimum GPA of 2.4.
Who is considered for a Transfer Entitlement Award?
- Students who plan to transfer directly from a CA Community College to a 4-year University that offers a bachelor's degree in the award year. There cannot be a gap in enrollment between attendance at the California Community College and the 4-Year University.
- Students who are under the age of 28 by December 31 of the award year.
- Students who meet the general Cal Grant eligibility requirements.
- Students who graduated from a CA high school after June 30, 2000, and were California residents (or if you applied through the Dream Act application, living in California) at the time of high school graduation.
OR
- Students who did not graduate from high school, but were a California resident on their 18th birthday (if you applied through the Dream Act application), and lived in California on their 18th birthday.
Deadline to Apply
- Deadline is March 2nd of each award year (March 2, 2026, for the 2026-2027 academic year)
How to Apply
- Complete a Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) or CA Dream Act Application (CADAA) by March 2, 2026
- Submit a CA Community College GPA based on 24 completed units to the California Student Aid Commission by March 2, 2026
- Once you are preliminarily awarded, you must complete a Transfer Entitlement Certification form at WebGrants for Students
Note: You must be transferring to Bachelor's Degree Granting Institution in the academic year for which you are initially awarded a Cal Grant. For example, if you receive a transfer entitlement award for 2025-2026, you must transfer in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 to be eligible for the award. Sign in and check Webgrants to check your status.

- You must have completed the 2025-2026 California Dream Act Application by April 2, 2025 for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- You must complete the 2026-2027 California Dream Act Application by March 2, 2026, for the 2026-2027 academic year.
- You must have a certified GPA filed with the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) by April 2, 2025, for the 2025-2026 academic year.

- Attended a California High School for 3 or more years, or
- You attained credits from a California high school equivalent to three or more years of full-time high school coursework and a total of three or more years of attendance at a California Elementary school, California Secondary Schools, California Adult Schools, or a combination thereof, or
- You attained credits at a community college, or a combination of the schools above.
- You graduated or will graduate from a California High School or the equivalent by passing the General Education Development (GED), High School equivalency test (HiSET) or California High School proficiency exam (CHSPE), or
- You have or will have an associate degree from a California Community College, or
- You have or will have fulfilled the minimum requirements to transfer from a California Community College to a University of California or California State University.

If you received a Cal Grant at LMU during the 2025-2026 academic year, you only need to complete the 2026-2027 FAFSA or 2026-2027 California Dream Act Application to apply to renew your Cal Grant for the 2026-2027 academic year. You must meet the state of California's income and asset requirements and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements to remain eligible for the Cal Grant for the 2026-2027 academic year.
