Federal Parent (PLUS) loan - Prospective students
How to Apply for the Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan for 2009-2010 :
Step 1: Complete the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at
www.fafsa.ed.gov to apply for the 2009-2010 academic year. Be sure to List LMU's school code, 001234, on the FAFSA.
Step 2: Complete an Online PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN). A
list of lenders for PLUS Loans is
available for you to review, but you are not obligated to use these
lenders and may borrow from any lender or credit union of your choice.
Please review each lender’s terms and conditions to make an informed
decision. Apply online directly with the lender that you select.
Note: When you apply the lender will perform a
credit check. The credit check for the PLUS loan is only good for 90
days. Therefore, we do not recommend that you apply for a
2009-2010 PLUS loan more than 90 days prior to the start of the
semester, which begins January 19,2010.
The Financial Aid Office will certify your PLUS loan once we receive an approval and request from the lender.
