Appeals and Special Circumstances

Loyola Marymount University makes every attempt to award students the maximum aid for which they are eligible based on federal, state and institutional policies and available resources.

LMU awards all students the maximum federal student loans for which they qualify. There is no guarantee that submission of special circumstances or an appeal will result in your receiving a higher financial aid award. An appeal will not replace offered loans with grant or merit aid. A special circumstance or appeal may result only in a change to federal aid eligibility as institutional funds are limited for undergraduate students. Parents should consider the Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan as an option to cover the parent contribution and/or expenses not covered by the aid award.

Graduate students will only be considered for increased federal or private loan eligibility, as eligibility for grant aid is determined by their school or department.
