Applying for Summer 2017 Financial Aid


Students interested in receiving federal loans for the summer term must complete and submit a summer Financial Aid application by the published deadline. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current school year (2016-2017) must also be completed by the priority deadline of April 1. Non-LMU students who wish to apply to receive summer aid from their home institution must apply through their home school and submit a consortium agreement to the LMU Financial Aid Office. Students must enroll in at least two units to receive federal loans. Students who withdraw or take a leave of absence from summer courses will be subject to the Return of Title IV refund and the Tuition Liability/Refund policy discussed in the sections above.

If you have not already completed a 2016-2017 FAFSA, we recommend that you complete it by April 1 to receive a summer aid award prior to the Student Accounts summer tuition deadline of May 30. We cannot guarantee Financial Aid awards for a FAFSA received after June 1. All loan borrowers at LMU are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Although you may be approved by your lender to borrow an alternative (private) loan before submitting a FAFSA, LMU will not certify or disburse any loan funds until a FAFSA is completed.

LMU considers summer school the end of the school year. Therefore, the eligibility of each student is based upon each student's remaining annual limits for grants and loans. Students who receive their maximum grant and/or loan eligibility for the Fall and Spring semesters may not have any remaining eligibility for summer financial aid.
