Spring 2010

Although the priority processing deadline to apply is October 15, 2009.   If you are admitted and have completed all requirements by this date, we will provide you with your financial aid award prior to November 30, 2009.   Applications reviewed after this date will be processed in the order received.

Step 1: Submit the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by October 15, 2009.
The FAFSA application is required to be considered for federal, state, and LMU-funded financial aid,
including the Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan.  The FAFSA must be completed by October 15, 2009 for priority processing consideration.

● Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Applying online is safe and secure and will provide online edits
to assist you in completing your FAFSA. Both you and at least one parent must apply for a Personal
Identification Number (PIN) to sign the FAFSA electronically. LMU’s school code is #001234.

OR

● Although the Department of Education encourages all students to apply electronically; you
can obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) toll-free
at 800-4-FED-AID. If you complete a paper FAFSA, make sure your application is error-free, has the
student signature and the signature of at least one parent, and is postmarked by the October 15, 2009
priority processing deadline.

STEP 2: Complete the 2009-2010 CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE

If you have never completed the CSS PROFILE to apply for financial aid at LMU in a prior term, you are required to complete it if you want to be considered for LMU funded financial aid. The CSS PROFILE should be completed prior to LMU’s October 15, 2009 priority processing deadline.  Make sure to provide LMU’s school code, #4403, on the CSS PROFILE.

The CSS PROFILE is a two-part process:

1. Register to receive a customized application at www.collegeboard.org/profile.
2. After you register, you can complete your customized PROFILE application online.

STEP 3: Submit your and/or your parents’ 2008 Federal Income Tax Returns
You are required to submit a copy of your 2008 federal tax return to the Financial Aid Office. If you are required to provide parent information on the FAFSA, then you must also submit a copy of your parents’ 2008 federal tax return to the Financial Aid Office.  If you and/or your parents are not required to file a 2008 federal tax return, you must submit the student and/or parent non-filer forms which are available for download here.  The information collected in these returns/non-filing statements, will be used to verify the financial information provided on the FAFSA or CSS Profile.

STEP 4: Continue Communication with the Financial Aid Office!

Additional information may be required from you or your parents to complete your financial aid application throughout the year.  If additional documentation is needed, the Financial Aid Office will communicate with your LMU lion via e-mail.
