Although the priority processing deadline to
apply is October 15, 2009. If you are
admitted and have completed all requirements by this date, we will provide you
with your financial aid award prior to November 30, 2009. Applications reviewed after this date will
be processed in the order received.
Step 1: Submit
the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by October
15, 2009.
The FAFSA application is required to be considered for federal,
state, and LMU-funded financial aid,
including the Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan. The FAFSA must be completed by October 15, 2009
for priority processing consideration.
● Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Applying online is safe and secure and will provide online edits
to assist you in completing your FAFSA. Both you and at least one parent must
apply for a Personal
Identification Number (PIN) to sign the FAFSA electronically. LMU’s school code
is #001234.
OR
● Although the Department of Education encourages all students
to apply electronically; you
can obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center
(FSAIC) toll-free
at 800-4-FED-AID. If you complete a paper FAFSA, make sure your application is
error-free, has the
student signature and the signature of at least one parent, and is postmarked
by the October 15, 2009
priority processing deadline.
STEP 2: Complete the 2009-2010 CSS/Financial
Aid PROFILE
If you have never completed the CSS
PROFILE to apply for financial aid at LMU in a prior term, you are required
to complete it if you want to be considered for LMU funded financial aid. The
CSS PROFILE should be completed prior to LMU’s October 15,
2009 priority processing deadline. Make sure to provide LMU’s school code, #4403,
on the CSS PROFILE.
The CSS PROFILE is a two-part process:
1. Register to receive a customized application at www.collegeboard.org/profile.
2. After you register, you can complete your customized PROFILE application
online.
STEP 3: Submit your
and/or your parents’ 2008 Federal Income Tax Returns
You are required to submit a copy of your 2008 federal tax return to
the Financial Aid Office. If you are required to provide parent information on the
FAFSA, then you must also submit a copy of your parents’ 2008 federal tax
return to the Financial Aid Office. If
you and/or your parents are not required to file a 2008 federal tax return, you
must submit the student and/or parent non-filer forms which are available for
download here. The information collected in
these returns/non-filing statements, will be used to verify the financial
information provided on the FAFSA or CSS Profile.
STEP 4: Continue Communication with the
Financial Aid Office!
Additional information may be required from you or your parents to complete
your financial aid application throughout the year. If additional
documentation is needed, the Financial Aid Office will communicate with your
LMU lion via e-mail.
